Frustrated passengers fed up with the noise on flights insist children should be placed in their own section, according to a new survey.
Travel website Airfarewatchdog.com, which conducted a survey of 10,000 people, asked: “Would you like to see a section of a plane reserved for parents with babies?”
Over half of the respondents (58 per cent) answered “Yes, they should have done this long ago,” and a further 27 per cent said “Yes, but they never will and it'll never work.”
Only 15 per cent answered “No, this is a bad idea.”
“Children-only sections would be logistically difficult to implement,” said David Castelveter, spokesman for the Air Transport Association.
He added: “There would be cases where a passenger requested and paid for a seat in an adults-only section of the plane - but was forced to sit in the children's section due to an oversold flight or the substitution of a larger plane for a smaller one.”
Airfarewatchdog recommends passengers should take the following action to avoid the noise from children while travelling:
* Never travel without headphones (preferably those that cancel out noise)
* Sit in the exit rows of the plane as children are not allowed to sit there and there will be no child kicking the back of your seat.
* Take an early morning flight (if available) as parents and toddlers are less likely to catch these.
* Speak to the parent or guardian of the offending child politely but firmly. If it becomes a hassle, call the flight attendant to speak with the parent or asked to be moved.

I'd go even further: have one flight per day for parents with children. Having recently suffered a mother who slept in her flatbed seat while the father read in his and the child just screamed and kicked and then they alternated, neither trying to calm the angel, separate flights sound wonderful!

I have been on a flight with 20 screaming babes in arms and very hassled stewards on the bottle run with no time to serve adult customers.maybe the airlines should only have a few per flight, after all the rest of us subsidise their free travel.Cant be good for their ears etc flying so young

agree, attempting to separate adults and kids where possible makes adults even less tolerant of children when they do encounter them - as working age adults (with&without kids) we should remember that it'll be the kids kicking the back of our seats now who'll pay our healhcare later...

What is it with the UK and the gerneral dislike of children? Why don´t they go the whole hog to gag and bind them on planes? It´s because of attitudes like this we left the UK to live in Galicia, Spain, where children are welcomed with open arms and, in turn, are exceptionally well behaved.
