I love La Villa, a French restaurant (5 Xianggang Zhong Lu) that serves international food at reasonable prices (£10-£20pp).

Must do

The Naval Museum (8 Laiyang Lu) includes ships, aircraft and tanks. Access to the submarine - highly recommended - costs a bit extra.

Avoid

Seafood from street stalls and tiny restaurants - unless you really like your hotel bathroom.

Top shop

Visit the Taidong night market (starts at 5.30pm) to browse the weird, wonderful and tacky. Expect to bargain hard.

A to B

Taxis are inexpensive. Even the airport run costs less than a fiver.
