Cornwall’s answer to Iron and Wine (Tin and Cider?), the former Slowdive and Mojave 3 man surfs by day and records his cheerfully derivative music by night. How nice for him, though less so for the listener. Not so much bad as inevitable: songs such as Elevenses and the obvious single Queen Bee are oddly evocative of other people’s signatures.

This blandly amiable confection sounds like the sort of folk record Damon Albarn might make — which probably explains why he doesn’t.
