New Kids on the Block: Greatest Hits
Anyone who's seen the recent press shots of the re-formed New Kids on the Block will have realised that they're not “kids” any more. In fact, they look more like stone-faced bouncers manning the door of your local high street nightclub. While we wait for their new album, The Block, here's the inevitable Greatest Hits collection.
Like Take That's back catalogue, NKOTB's ballad-heavy hits haven't aged well. Please Don't Go Girl suffers from Joey McIntyre's Little Jimmy Osmond-style soprano, while This One's for the Children is schmaltzy beyond belief. Much better is You Got (The Right Stuff), a charming take on New Jack Swing.
