Who are they? A Seattle five-piece, HGR are one of those “Oh, sod it” bands - the type of group about whom you can have pretty strong reservations, but whose music in the end simply bludgeons and charms you into submission and joining the party. Green Raised Vein, track two on their debut album, The Twilight Exit, manages to recall Led Zeppelin, the Clash and Meat Loaf in just three minutes, Wolfking of LA melds Alice Cooper and Guns N’ Roses; Empire Skies sounds like a lost collaboration between Tom Waits and Robbie Williams. Currently gaining something of a party reputation on the capital’s live scene, HGR’s mad musical melange is more than up to the challenge of soundtracking the carnage.
